Bagenalstown Dental first opened its doors back in 1992 on the Royal Oak Road and then later moved to its current premises on Kilree Street, Bagenalstown in 1996. We are always happy to welcome new patients to the practice.

Dental Surgeon

Bernard received his BDS qualification from University College Cork in 1990. A native of Cork, Bernard grew up in Cork city.

Following graduation from UCC Bernard worked in general practice in Kent, England until 1992.
He then returned to Ireland and opened a number of dental practices in Carlow and Wexford. He is now delighted to finally have the opportunity to practice in his hometown.

Bernard has been actively involved in the Irish Dental Association since 1992. He was recently elected Chairman of the Irish Dental Council; the professional body of the dental profession in Ireland, where he plays an active role in promoting high standards of professional education and professional conduct among dentists.

Laura joined us at Bagenalstown Dental in May of 2020. Laura qualified with honours from Cork University Dental School & Hospital in 2019 where she won the Dr Noel Hayes/Dentsply award for Dental Surgery for achieving the highest mark in Final Year Dental Surgery.

Laura is originally from Bagenalstown and following her graduation from UCC, she worked for a time in London until  March 2020. This coming December, she will be graduating with a Diploma of Primary Care Dentistry from the Royal College of Surgeons Ireland.

Ms Carol Downey

Carol joined the practice in August 2020. She graduated as a dental hygienist from Cork University Dental School & Hospital in 2009. She previously qualified as a dental nurse from Trinity College Dublin/Dublin Dental Hospital. She has been employed with various private practices in Dublin, Kildare, Donegal and the Health Service Executive.
Her principal role as a hygienist is the removal of plaque and calculus from the teeth. Her appointment times can vary from 30 minutes up to 1 hour and includes controlling periodontal (gum)disease, fissure sealants, fluoride therapy, placement of desensitizing agents, smoking cessation, diet advice and brushing, flossing and interdental use instruction.

Cliona is a native of Bagenalstown and has been with us at Bagenalstown Dental a number of years. Cliona is our Receptionist and dental nurse. She is a friendly and hard working member of our team and she will be happy to help you when booking an appointment.
